I have a bestfriend that has a Rabbit that is about 6 years old, Small Rex, that live outdoors. And he is loosing his fur. She thinks that that means that he is going to die. Could anyone help make my friend feel better? :bunhug: She loves this rabbit very much and I feel really bad that she thinks he's going to pass. She got this rabbit right after he father died and she named the rabbit after her father. :cry2: :cry2: :cry2:
Can Anyone help me and her?
Thank you
Nickiey :bunhug:

Mine are moulting at the moment which is normal, is this what you mean? Or fur loss as in bold patches? This could be mites so probably best to take him to the vets :D
Hope this helps :D

She says that he has bald spots on his chest and on his back. What do you look for if it's mite? The only reason that I ask is because we really don't have a vet around here that will even see a rabbit so we really have to do all of the vet care our selfs. :cross:
Thanks Nickiey

There may be scurfy areas with white 'dandruff' bits?
Rick & Nickiey - August 10, 2008 04:40 PM (GMT)
She says that he's all clean and other then just the bald spots there is nothing . So she think it's just molting like you said. Thank You she just wanted to know what was going on.
Thank You so much again you was a big help

Moulting doesn't usually leave bald spots, well mine never have them. A pic might help?

Ok I'll see what I can do about getting a pic to she you I'm try to get it today but Robert (the bunny) isn't here he's at her house. I think we have to go there today so I'll try and get you a pic.
Thank You

I think mites is a big posibility. They are so small they can't be seen by the naked eye. If you have no vet to take the bun to, you could buy some Xeno 450 online and apply that as a precaution.
Bunnysnug bought some recently I think so might know a good site to get it from.
I hope your friend is ok.

Just a thought, I used to keep chinchillas a while ago (til my father in law looked after them when we went on our hols and dinlt want to give them back!!) I know they pull their fur out when they get stressed or bored. maybe buns do this too, or maybe not. Chinchillas don't like to be cooped up in their cage and love human attention.

Fingers crossed he's all sorted soon
