Awww cute, how long will it be before they hatch? :)
Rick & Nickiey - August 31, 2008 05:33 PM (GMT)
It take about 19-20 days for the egg to hatch and the Cockatiel lays an egg every 48 hours! So what happens is that the first egg will hatch and then 48 hours later the #2 egg will hatch and so on so..... Till they are all hatched so the first egg is mcuh older then the last, and that's they way that they growup to. One chick will always be one step behind the older one. If's very strange the way that it all works with Birds or at least cockatiels. But they are great friends / pets to have and Pecker the gray one is the male and he's the best bird he'll play with our two year old for hours and never bite him once but I play with him he'll bite me every min. It's like he know's that Christian is just a baby and not to bite him haha
Talk to you soon and we'll still post pics. when we get more eggs or chicks ;)

Thank YOu for all your help! You lady's are the best I'm a member of a cockatiel forum and they forum is a joke. I asked a question about my birds and they jumped at me! I told them that my birds my be brother and sister I'm not sure! And they came at me like I killed there dog! THey told me that If I thought that that I should kill the eggs and that I was wrong if I was to let the egg hatch but I beleave that it's wrong to kill the eggs. I asked me if they were to know that they were going to have a child with a helth problem would have give it up for adotion or have an abortion! They didn't know what to say about that! What do you lady's think I know you don't know much about birds but do you think that I should kill the egg or do you think that I should take the chance? I care more about what you people think then what they think!

Unfortunately some forums can be like that. Infact I have found quite a few to be like that. There is no chance of being 'spoken to' like that here.
I personally would give the babies a chance. I couldn't kill them after they had started to incubate them.
Rick & Nickiey - September 2, 2008 04:24 PM (GMT)
I know I couldn't kill them ether but that's what I was trying to tell them but they just keep telling me that I was being meaner to let them hatch! But I was so mad I couldn't help my self from tell them what I thought of them! I'll never post on that forum again!

I feel the same, give the babies a chance.

In the wild animals do inter-breed. They don't know they shouldn't. And, just because humans don't think it's acceptable or right it doesn't necessarily mean that it's wrong for animals. When each species began, it would have had to inter breed to survive. So, although I guess it's not ideal, it doesn't mean they wil definately have problems either.
I used to have cockatiels about 10 yrs ago, they mated and had 3 eggs but they never hatched. Soon after my female died because she was egg bound (could not pass her eggs). I haven't had any since then. :cry1:
Good luck with your eggs Nickiey, hope you have some lovely bouncing baby cockatiels!!

Aww poor little egg. Hope the others do ok
Vickie - September 4, 2008 09:12 PM (GMT)
Awwwww, at least there are more eggies waiting to hatch.
Rick & Nickiey - September 5, 2008 01:24 AM (GMT)
Yes And I wish they would just hatch already I can't stand the waiting game it NO FUN! :angry1: But when I have a cage full of CHERPING birds all I'll want them to do is turn back to eggs. It's like you can't wait for the first time your child says Mama and then you say " I'm going to change my name" I say that daily!
And then when they say it in all those different kinds of ways over and over again till you go " WHAT" then they run off and say " Nothing" :cross:  :cross:  :cross:
But still Can't wait to see Ugly baby birds.
