When I went to Vickie's on monday we found a stray persian cat - which was trying to get some food from a bin bag. It was so bedraggled and thin - its coat was all matted and it looked like it had been outside for a while. It didn't have a collar so we put it in a box and I took it to the vets.
It had been spitting and generally unhappy with us - in the car it meowed all the way, but when I got there the nurse got it out of the box and had a look at it, she was pulling huge clumps of hair from it. While we waited for the vet to arrive I stroked it and it purred and purred - it was a lovely cat, and was obviously scared and hadn't had any love for a while.
I knew then that I'd get him sorted (he needed a complete shave) and bring him home.
Unfortunately when the vet took a look at him later he had a huge growth in his stomach (he thought maybe someone had thrown it out because of the cost) and it was so far gone now he needed to be put to sleep.
Didn't know him very long and I was so sad, but at least he was comfortable, warm and well fed, and not outside on such cold nights before he was pts.

Sleep well my little friendly puss.
