Title: Curly Kale
Description: How much is too much
Vikki - January 13, 2009 01:38 AM (GMT)
I've read some conflicting advice about curly kale and wondered what your (more experienced rabbiteers) thoughts were?
My 3 love it, and I mean  it. I make up their lunch/dinner bowl and the absolute first thing to go is the kale. Even before grapes or apple!
If they like it and its OK i'd love to give them a bit more along with their 5 a day (its the easy peasy thing to feed!) but are there any negatives in doing this?

mine have been eating kale almost every day and they love it too!.
4 of them are almost 3 now so i dont see it has done them any harm at all.
YAY for Kale i say!!

I haven't ever given mine curly kale. I don't know if Bobby's ever had it before. I was going to buy some yesterday to try as I can't get spring greens but they didn't have any of that either.
I think you could try giving yours a bit more through the day but if you notice any difference in their poo's or if they have excess caecotrophs lying around that they haven't eaten they cut back again.

Mine love kale too. It's definately on the safe foods list and I've not heard anything negative about it. I don't buy it too often purely because it's a bit pricey, I've only ever found it ready prepared in bags so I spose that's why.

Mine have it occasionally when Dan lets me buy it for them hehe. Bloody tight wad!!!!
As for how much they should have, I haven't got a clue to be honest !!!

Mine love it too but it is high in calcium :D

I only give as a treat to these two as it is high in calcium - as you know that is brilliant for young buns, but not so good for the older ones! also, I have found that it causes a disruption in normal pooh! ( that's put politely!) That's what I have found with it, I do feed carrot and that is also high in calcium and this is also in moderation.
