Title: Buggles
Bunnysnug - February 1, 2009 01:43 PM (GMT)
I think he has mite :cry2: i noticed to patches of his fur were thinning, anyway by the next day they looked bigger again. I have put some Xenx spot on on him so hopefully that will sort him out. My poor man :bunhug: :bunhug: :bunhug:
I think it's from my hay that i buy now :head:

Oh dear!
Where do you buy your hay from Sarah?
Bunnysnug - February 1, 2009 08:13 PM (GMT)
I get it via my friend who has it for her horses. I buy a bale & she then puts into sections when i need it as i don't have enough space to store a bale.

aww i hope he gets better soon
is there anyway to tell if the hay you buy has mites?
Bunnysnug - February 2, 2009 03:45 PM (GMT)
Thank you, i think it is the hay as i use to use a different one. The trouble is that buying it like this is so much cheaper :head:
Vikki - February 2, 2009 11:20 PM (GMT)
so if you buy the 'bags' from petshops its less likely to have mite than the fresh stuff?
bunny mummy - February 5, 2009 10:21 PM (GMT)
Aww poor boy! I hope he is better today. Have you tried fuciderm cream? The only reason I ask is I had not had Rosie and Jimmy long when Jimmy started loosing the fur on her hind foot - I took her to the vet and she had fleas! (as did Rosie) I had bought some hay I don't normally buy and it was at the cheaper end of the market where hay is concerned and the vet said she suspects that was the cause . ( my previous bun got mites by the same means) Anyway, the cream worked wonders and as such it may work on your boy.
I hope he is ok today. :bunhug:

I think the petshop hay is less likely to have mites than the bales you can buy. The hay i get is so lovely & fresh too
I haven't tried fuciderm no, i will see how the xenex stuff goes for now thanks anyway:D

Yes, less then bales ( sorry I haven't read the whole thread!)
I am only going on my experience when I got some for these two when I purchased some from a pet shop.. and then with the flies that they got ( and with my previos bun) getting mites. Please don't think I am suggesting that pet shop hay is inferior - it's just my experience with my current two and my previous bun.
Bunnysnug - February 5, 2009 11:17 PM (GMT)
Oh no i didn't think you were suggesting that :)
bunny mummy - February 5, 2009 11:25 PM (GMT)
Good! :) I am glad you didn't think I was suggesting that.
