Title: new rabbits
Peanuts Mum - February 15, 2009 10:53 PM (GMT)
Hello All,
I moved into my new flat 6 months ago and my boyfriend suprised me with a beautiful croos dwarf called Peanut. Peanut has bought such joy to me and has become kind of like a cat or dog following me around and really developing a personality. The thing is I would really love to get Peanut a play mate but not sure what affect this would have oon him? he has been neutered but not sure he would take kindly to another rabbit. I have his best interests at heart and would really welcome any advise you could give me.. Also because Peanut has become such an important family member we tend to take him wherever we go we let him travel in his cage in the car except for when taking him to the vets.. the thing is if this is going to dtress out a rabbit then I would rather leave him at home... all comments welcome. Thanks

Hello and welcome to RT.
It's great you're thinking of getting a little pal for your bunny. :bunhug: Vickie is the best person to ask about bonding, we call her the 'Bonding Queen' hehe
Have fun chatting !!

Looking forward to chatting and hearing all about Peanut

:hello: Hello and welcome.
Firstly, how long has your bun been neutered? It takes around 6 weeks for the hormones to calm down and he may be rather territorial towards a wifey if his hormones are still clanging. If he has been recently neutered, it would be worth the wait in the long run.
Generally rabbits are accepting of others of the opposite sex. As a rescue we always encourage and rehome bonded pairs. It is lovely to watch a bonded pair snuggle and groom one another.
If you are thinking of adopting a bun from a rescue, you will find most rescues will assist with the bonding.
Keep us posted, good luck.
