Title: Help!!

PinkBunny - April 10, 2009 06:21 PM (GMT)
We have been away for a few days and my next door neighbour's son fed the buns for us. He has done it for us before and all has been fine.

We got back this afternoon and I straight away realised that he'd left the top off the big plastic box I keep the food in and of course we've had rain. aaaarrgghh!!! There was about half a 10kg bag of excel dwarf in there (about £8 worth) so I dashed off to the shop to get some more.

When I got back I filled up the hay and then noticed that there seems to be the same amount of hay left as there was when I went. On closer inspection 4 of my youngest buns seem to have sticky bums. So I think he's not given them any hay at all. I'd go round and  at him but he's gone on his hols today.

So I've not fed any pellets or veg at all and just put in loads of hay which they have all tucked into.

So what I'd like to know is what else should I do, I know I've seen on some threads that you use a type of medication for 'sticky bums' so do I need to get some? What is it called and where do I get it?

Thanks in advance for your advice guys

I would continue doing what your doing, keep feeding hay, no veg or pellets as yet. As for the medication the only thing i can think of is the probiotic bio-lapis sachets (like actimal for rabbits lol) or something similar. If it continues they may need to see a vet, i hope they improve soon :bunhug:

Oh noooooooooooooo. As Kim said, hay, hay and more hay. Sending clean bum vibes.

Thanks for your advice guys, I have only fed hay since yesterday afternoon and they have all eaten loads and loads, just been out to fill them all up again and checked bums and can't see any sticky stuff, yesterday I had to clean them up so it's not any worse today, thank God. They've all drank quite a lot too so I'm guessing that's because they haven't had veg.

When do you think it would be ok to re-introduce veg and pellets?
They were all waiting by their bowls when I got out there this morning, they're not daft! hehe hehe

Bless them! I would leave it for a couple of days on hay then introduce the pellets. Then try greens but only a small amount

I would keep doing what you are doing. The anti fly strike spray name I can't remember, but as long as you clean them up ( as I am sure you will have done so) But if you want to make certain nip to your local pet store and they will have the spray. I would think they are fine and dandy as it's not been too warm.

I agree, give them a diet of hay for a few more days. Glad bums are looking healthier.

Glad their bums are better and agree, keep going with the hay for couple of days

Will do, but I feel so awful, their little faces looking at me, expecting some yummy greens and a slice or 2 of carrot from their mommy. My poor babies, :(

I need to sort something else out for when we go away in August now though because I can't trust the neighbour's son again.
