Title: Top tip for house bunnies
Description: digging carpet and eating

It seems that bunnies graze instinctively, so elliot kept digging and eating carpet
i tried clapping and water spray (although not good at that cause it made me feel cruel and i had to get a towel each time and dry him) lol
Well you know the packs of straw we buy, they are tightly packed.
So i pulled back the plastic about the third of the way, and showed it to him and cause it was so hard for him to drag it out he began digging and pulling, like grazing.
its cut out carpet problem nearly most of the time, when he does does dig i pick him up and put him infront of packed straw.
this way he gets to pull it out and dig.
im happy he's happy
no more calls to vet to see he if can digest carpet.

Yes they do! that is why they try to dig the carpet, and chew wires - as in bunny world - wires appear as vines and they want to eat them. As you have a house bun, as I am sure you are aware - cover up the wires as well as areas where he digs.. you could also try using large cardboard box filled with shredded paper and a cut out where he can get it .. this will help to occupy him and stimulate him so that he does not dig and in doing so digest any carpet , you could also give him a 'sand pit' not builders sand obviously, but pulp, shredded paper and soil. and this may stop him digging and digesting any of the carpet, as in doing so, will not upset his gut , and cause gi stasis and this is, as you know very is dangerous to rabbits...and may be fatal .. if not treated can cause death.

Oh sorry, I forgot to add rabbits should be fed hay as it is full of fibre and not straw - or so my vet informed me years ago.

Yes that's right, straw can be used for bedding but they shouldn't eat it. I personally now do't buy straw at all but use hay for bedding so they can eat that if they feel like it too and cuts down on waste.
