Does anyone know of any reputable campbells russian hamster breeders in or around Gloucester? My kids want one each and I would prefer to get them from a breeder to make sure they are bred properly. I know of someone who have had a few hamsters from out pets at home that died withing a few days.

Don't know of any I'm afraid. I've seen Russian hamsters, what does a Campbell Russian look like?

I had 2 when i was younger and they were really vicious :( do your kids want to be able to handle them?

Yes they will want to handle them. I have been reading around and they were apparantly better than the roborovski's, as in calmer and friendlier.
Nikki had a syrian which died a few weeks ago. For the first year that we had him, we couldn't put our hand near him because he bit. He was very vicious. After that, he calmed down.

sorry Justine, I dont know anyone. Assuming you have already tried googling 'hamster breeders gloucestershire' all I can suggest is you try a different pet shop, eg pet corner in quedgeley??

Yeah I have googled but couldn't find anything. I'm bound to have missed something right under my nose though. I'll keep looking and if I can't find any, i'll have to go with a pet shop.

I wonder whether mine were vicious because they sensed i was nervous around them?!

Yeah maybe. I never got to hold Nikki's even when it stopped biting because I was too scared. haha

I have always found russians more friendlier than syrians. They never use to bite :D
